The Millennium Way

Walks in the Heart of England

History

The Millennium Way – a fabulous community project created, for the year 2000, by Solihull 41 Club for the new Millennium. With over 650 clubs across Great Britain and Ireland, 41 Club has created this long distance trail, in the Heart of England, for people across the country to enjoy. It is maintained by a team of more than 50, ensuring our instructions are second to none and the paths are clear of obstruction.

41 Club is for ex Round Table members. Round Table is a social club with a conscience for young men, with the current age limit being 45 (previously 40). Once men in Round Table have hit the upper age limit, they are invited to join their 41 Club, to continue their friendship.

As a part of their fellowship and community service programme, Solihull 41 Club (led by our Founder Chris Tayler - pictured striding away from Packwood House) along with other 41 Clubs have worked together, for the last 20 years, to make the Millennium Way an accessible trail for people who are wishing to walk across Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Solihull and Northamptonshire. It is one of the top 20 National Trails and shows on Ordnance Survey maps.

Having created a 100 mile trail anchored on Meriden, the traditional centre of England, the team realised that most walkers and ramblers need shorter circular walks.

Hence in 2012 our 44 Circular Walks were created. If you do all 44 circulars, you will have covered 267 miles and with it every inch of the main 100 mile trail.
